As of Build 105, Trillian for Mac will now work on both Intel and PowerPC Macs, and we’ve added XMPP support to the Facebook plugin. Mac users already using Facebook Chat shouldn’t have to make any changes to see the improvements – the Facebook plugin works behind-the-scenes with the XMPP plugin to power chat. We’ve also fixed a handful of issues for this build, including a few bugs related to messages not appearing on the Yahoo! and Windows Live services.
Please note: Facebook contacts previously moved with older builds may re-appear in their default locations in the new build. This is a one-time occurrence due to the shift to XMPP; future changes to your list should stick. Enjoy the build!

Trillian 2.0 for Web is now available! With the 2.0 release, it’s now even easier than ever to use Trillian for Web as your full-time IM client when you’re away from your desktop. Listening closely to customer feedback, we’ve added a batch of great new features:
- Facebook Chat
- Avatars within the contact list
- Sound preferences
- Contact list views – simple, tiny, medium, large
- Contact list management – drag and drop to re-arrange, deleting, renaming, etc
- Status messages shown in message windows and the contact list
- Enhanced connection manager settings – control XMPP server and port, privacy settings, and more
- URL previews – try mousing over a URL to see a quick summary, useful for resolving shortened links
- Language packs
- Inline registration of new Astra Accounts
Additionally, we’ve decided to make the new version free for everyone! To offset the costs of running the service, we’ll be experimenting with different forms of advertising on an ongoing basis. For now, we’ve added a small banner ad on the top of the window showcasing Trillian for iPhone. You should expect additional changes to the experience as we iterate and tweak things, and we’ll be listening closely to customer feedback and ideas. Note that Pro customers will not see any advertising.

We’ve released a new version of the iPhone beta to our testing team today. To those of you currently beta testing Trillian for iPhone, please be sure you download and install the latest build as the old build will stop working shortly!
Although we were close to submitting to the App Store a few weeks ago, we decided to clean up our Facebook Chat implementation to use XMPP before doing so, hence the minor delay with version 1.1. This new build includes the latest Facebook/XMPP integration code (using the actual Facebook medium, not Jabber!) so please give it a spin. Testers should notice improved stability of the Facebook Chat connection as a result of the XMPP integration. We’ve also worked on speeding up various areas of the application, notably the contact list and message windows. Enjoy the new build!

Coming in as a close second to Growl integration was the ability to change and control your personal avatar! As of Build 104, you can now change your avatar using files on disk or even your integrated camera, including full support for fun image filters and zoom controls. A new preferences section has also been added, allowing you to control what hotkeys Trillian for Mac uses to send messages and insert newlines. A handful of bug fixes are present in this build as well.
Enjoy the new build!

Build 24 is now available to all customers. Since the gold release of Trillian 4.1 a few weeks back, we’ve been watching our crash reports and fixing them whenever we found them! If you’ve experienced the “stuck troubleshoot” button in your chat windows or have crashed when connecting to AIM or Google Talk, Build 24 should address these issues.
Additionally, Facebook recently started to support XMPP (the same communications protocol used by Jabber and Google Talk, among others) in their Facebook Chat product. As they’re not running a “true” XMPP server, a few things they do were incompatible with our existing plugin and we’ve made the necessary workarounds in Build 24.
For more detailed instructions on how to get the new XMPP connectivity working, please visit our help page: http://www.trillian.im/help/facebook-xmpp
Enjoy the build!
