How does Trillian connect to each of the services it supports?
The exact same way the original clients do - via a direct connection to whatever servers actually power the network. None of your instant messaging traffic ever passes through a Cerulean server, and we don't require you to register a new account with us to utilize existing services.

What are the minimum requirements for a video chat?
Trillian uses high quality video compression and attempts to transmit 15 frames per second, dropping to 10 if necessary. A PentiumŪ III running at 500mhz or greater is required, as is at least 64 megs of RAM. A broadband connection capable of transmitting and receiving data at rates of at least 15 kilobytes per second is also required.

What is time travel?
Have you ever watched your friend sneeze on a webcam and wished you could go back and see it again? With time travel, you can! Trillian's time travel feature allows you to pause, rewind, fast forward, and record live video and audio sessions. You can even rewind a stream and click the record button! Think of it as a miniature DVR device for the PC.

Does Trillian Basic support activity history?
Trillian Basic continues to support message history as it always has, by logging all messages to a text file on your hard drive. You can view the history with your favorite text viewer.
How do bookmarks work?
What are assets?
If I upgrade to Trillian Pro later, will my logs work in the new viewer?
I'm an existing Trillian Pro user, and most of my contacts are stored inside of meta contacts. Does the new message history support meta contacts, or will I have to load multiple history windows?

How does Instant Lookup™ work?
As you chat with your contacts, Trillian scans each of your messages in realtime to determine which words or phrases have interesting information associated with them. You may then choose to click these words to take further action, or can simply move your mouse over the words for a brief summary. Your messages are never sent to our servers for processing for any reason; all actions are taken locally, on your machine. Cerulean Studios has no access whatsoever to your messages.
Are there any system requirements for Instant Lookup™?

What is Serverless IM?
Serverless IM is powered by Apple's Rendezvous protocol. Rendezvous enables automatic discovery of computers, devices, and services on IP networks. Within the context of Trillian, Rendezvous allows two Trillian users on the same LAN (within a company's firewall, for example) to communicate without the need for any instant messaging servers. Also known as zero-configuration networking, Rendezvous uses industry standard IP protocols to allow devices to automatically find each other without the need to enter IP addresses or configure DNS servers. Rendezvous is an open protocol, which Apple has submitted to the IETF as part of the ongoing standards-creation process.
Can I use this to transfer files?
