What are the minimum requirements for an audio chat? |
A PentiumŪ PC running Windows 98 or greater is required. As with video chats, we strongly recommend Windows XP when engaging in any type of multimedia activity. Older operating systems will work, but your call quality will degrade somewhat. |

Can I audio chat with a user running AIM? |
No. While Trillian does support audio to AIM 5.9 during a video chat, a standalone audio chat is not currently supported. To date, AIM only offers the deprecated "AIM Talk" feature for pure audio chats, and Trillian does not support this. |

What is an Emotiblip? |
Think of an Emotiblip as the voice and video equivalent of an emoticon. At any time during a video session, you can stream a song or video to your friend in realtime. You don't need to create a special kind of file, either - MP3s, WAVs, WMVs, MPGs and the like will work just fine. Note that we currently don't support QuickTime MOV files as Emotiblips. |
A note on sound quality. |
Trillian uses different audio compression methods depending on a number of different factors. When you're using the video chat feature, a faster and less bandwidth-consuming codec is chosen. When you're in a pure audio chat with another Trillian user, Trillian attempts to use the Speex codec for superior sound quality. This codec is currently not supported by any other clients, and Trillian will utilize different codecs as is necessary to interoperate with as many clients as possible. |
