 Installing Plugins
|

|
|
|
|
- Select the download that you want to install and click the "Download" link.
- Save the file to your desktop or to a folder that you can find easily.
- Double-click the file. If it does not open or gives an error message, remove the .ZIP from the end of the filename. (Some systems automatically add .ZIP). The file should end with .EXE.
- Point to the Trillian Pro installation folder.
- Click "Go" to extract the plugin to the proper location.

Loading plugins

There are two ways you can add Plugins once you have them installed.
Quick Add
- In Trillian Pro, go to Preferences->Plugins.
- Click "Quick Add". The plugins should be listed in a drop down box.
- Find the plugin you installed and click it.
- Back at the Preferences window, under "Plugins", select the plugin and configure as needed.
Manual Add
- In Trillian Pro, go to Preferences->Plugins.
- Click "Add". The plugins are listed as .dll files in the plugin folder. If you can't see plugins listed, you need to go and change the folder options to view all files.
- Find the plugin you installed and click "Open".
- Back at the Preferences window, under "Plugins", select the plugin and configure as needed.

 7.2. News Plugin

The News Plugin will keep information right at your fingertips. You can be keep informed about the latest news, updated on the latest sports scores, or be the first to see what's hot in the technology world.
Once you have installed the News Plugin you will want to add the feeds. Go to the Preferences->Plugins section and click the News plugin. You will see this screen:
From here you can click the "View/Add Recent Feeds". You will be able to see feeds you have added in the past. We have put a few in there to get you started, but you don't have to use ours.
If you want to add your own feed, click the "Add Custom Feed" button and you will see this window:
When you get a feed it will be in the form of a link. The link is all you need to add a custom feed to the News plugin. Here is a sample of an RSS feed link.

This is the link to the CNN World News feed. The part up to the .com is the "Server" and everything after that is the "Location". When you add all of the information to the plugin it will look like this.
If you want the information displayed in your buddy list and you want a popup notification of new news check the add and alert boxes.
The port is almost always 80. If it's not you should be notified where you get the link to the feed.
Click "Add" and it will be added to your list of feeds.
Note: There is a HUGE list of feeds on the forums in the "Plugin Development" section. To get to that section you will have to have an account at our forums (CLICK HERE to go to the forums). You will also have to give yourself access to the private areas of the forums from the members section of the website.
AFTER you have set up your account on the forums, go to the members area of the website (where you downloaded Trillian Pro) and go to the "Exclusive Forums" section. From there you can give yourself access to the Members Only section of the forums and enable your "Pro-User" badge. Once you have done that you will be able to see the "Members Lounge" and the "Plugin Development" section. The "RSS Feed List" is at the top of the list in the Plugin Development section.
